It’s Your Choice

“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 (ESV)

Today across America we exercise our right to vote.  In this heated political season people are making a choice for whom they believe will serve their needs the best.  It is a contest between colors of blue and red, democrat versus republican, moderates versus liberals, and in many cases right versus wrong.

Filled With Joy and Peace

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13 (ESV)

As we begin another week for many of us our calendars are full with things that we have to do.  As we gear up to fulfill all of the things on our schedule we realize that some of those things are things we do not want to do, or are things that we know have the potential of being stressful.

My God

"And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people." Leviticus 26:12

It is certainly good to know that we have some people in our lives that will always be there for us.  No matter what we may be going through they are not only in our circle, they are also in our corner.  They do not have to agree with us all of the time, but they will support us through every decision we make.

Anger That Leads To Sin

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:26-27

Each of us has allowed something or someone to make us angry.  No matter how hard we try not to allow things or people to make us angry, we have become angry.  When things or people make us angry because of what they have done to us we feel justified by our anger, but we do not feel good that we allowed it to make us mad.  As Christians we feel we should not get angry. It is not being angry which is the problem; it is our reaction to the anger that is the problem.

Mountain Moving Faith

"Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done." Matthew 21:21

There are many powerful things that we come in contact with on a daily basis. Watching a demolition crew implode an old building, gives us opportunity to see the power of the explosives used to destroy a massive structure. If we have ever seen Mother Nature flex her muscles and the power and force there is in the wind and rain, or even the rush of a massive waterfall that is the power of Mother Nature at work. Each of us has also experienced going through a time without power in our homes, and how difficult it is to maneuver without power, it is the same thing when we do not have faith we are trying to maneuver in life without power.

Be A Blessing

“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.” Romans 12:14 (ESV)

As Christians we should pattern our lives and actions after God.  We should strive daily to be more like Christ like in our actions, words, and deeds.  We should want to be a blessing to those we come in contact with, and to show them the love of Christ in action.  There are times however that we will encounter some situations and people that will challenge us and if we are not careful our actions will not be Christ like.  The Scripture reminds us that we should, bless those who persecute us; bless and do not curse them.  I encourage you today to be a blessing to those who God places in your path.

Jesus Is The Answer

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

Every day we experience the grace and mercy of God being active in our lives.  Often we do not realize we are experiencing His grace and mercy at work for us, but when we take the time to look back at all that we have been through, and realize how God has kept His hand on our lives, we will quickly see His grace and mercy at work in our lives.  If we did not have His grace and mercy we would not be where we are now, and some of the things we went through would have turned out very different without His grace and mercy working for us.  The Scripture reminds us that, the Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

God’s Grace and Mercy

"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy." Psalm 103:8

Promise Keeper

“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:15 (ESV)

We should remember that God has promised some great things for our lives.  He has promised to be there with us through all that we face, and He has promised that no matter what it is that we go through that He would not leave us nor forsake us.  As believers we trust the promises that God has made to us, and we know that those promises will come to pass in our lives.  For some of the promises it will take faith to not give up on what God has said, because what we see does not yet look like what God has spoken for our lives.
