Be Faithful

“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.” Deuteronomy 28:1 (ESV)

Each of us has experienced a child that refused to listen to a parent. The child would be all over the place doing their own thing to their own beat. It is only after the threat of consequences for their actions is there a change of behavior.

Fasting And Praying

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sanctify a fast; call a solemn assembly;” Joel 2:15 (ESV)

As we begin this Lenten journey of reflection and repentance, we are hopeful that The Lord will replenish, revive, and renew us as we are fasting and praying. These next forty days will be an opportunity for us to draw closer to The Lord, and allow us to hear His voice more clearly in our lives.

Look For The Exit

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)

It does not make a difference how long we have been saved or how long we have been a member of a Church, or even what position we may hold in the Church, each of us has been tempted. There are times when we are strong enough to fight off the temptation, and then there are times when we do not try to fight it or are too weak to fight it.

Worthy Of The Praise

“From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!” Psalm 113:3 (ESV)

There is not a day or time when we should not be able to praise The Lord. The Lord has done some great things in our lives, and all of them are worthy enough for us to praise The Lord. We will face some difficult times in our lives, but even through the difficult times that we face The Lord is still worthy of our praise.

Don’t Quit

“Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.” Jeremiah 20:9

Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet, because it seems that he was always crying out to God for the people. Jeremiah did not have an easy task as prophet, he did not get to be the one that was prophesizing prosperity all of the time and people were ecstatic to hear the prophecy God gave to Jeremiah.

Withstand And Stand

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.” Ephesians 6:13 (ESV)

Life has a way of doing its best to try to knock us down. There are times when it feels like everything is coming against us at the same time. Storms, trials, tribulations, trouble, heartache, heartbreak, and disappointments all seem to show up at the same time.

Rejected But Blessed

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” Psalm 118:22 (ESV)

It does not make a difference how strong a person may be, rejection is not easy for anyone to take. The feeling of rejection can leave someone to a place of never trying anything again. Rejection from a job, a school, a loan, or anything is hard to take, but we should never allow rejection to be the final say over our lives.

Happy Glad

“I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Psalm 122:1 (ESV)

As this New Year has begun we find ourselves at the first Sunday of 2019. This is a great opportunity for us to start our year off right by being in the House of The Lord.

Called And Appointed

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 (ESV)

No matter how old we are we are still learning things about ourselves. For some of us we are learning how strong we really are, because of some things that we have had to overcome.
