"If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for
yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers
served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land
you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
Joshua 24:15
Family Life/Adults Ministry
The Family Life/Adults Ministry provides educational and therapeutic help
to families as they face the challenges of Christian family living. It's a
practical ministry that uses God's Word and family life research to assist
couples, traditional families, single-parents, and stepfamilies in building
stronger Christian homes.
Gospel Aerobics Ministry
Physical exercise enhances fitness, the quality and longevity of life. Spiritual
exercise profits all things. Gospel music underscores the sessions to enhance
motivation, reinforce faith and as an effective tool for evangelism. A physical
fitness trainer/aerobics instructor supervises classes. The sessions are tailored
to meet the needs of members at all levels of fitness.
Lay Council
Historically, lay persons have played an important role in the organization,
development and growth of the Church. The historical role that lay persons
played in our overall development can be seen in our early leadership, in
the liberation struggle of Black Americans. Those early leaders included a
number of well-known personalities such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglas.
Therefore, to fully marshal the resources of our laity and maximize their
efforts in the total mission of our church, a Lay Council was organized.
Lay Councils are represented at all levels of our organization. They include
Lay Councils at the Episcopal District, The Annual Conference, the District
Conference and the Local Church.
The objectives of the Lay Council include: (a) deepening the spiritual life
of the laity; (b) disseminating information; (c) cultivating denominational
loyalty; (d) expanding the denomination through education and evangelism;
and (e) promoting the Kingdom of God.
Marriage Ministry
The objectives of Marriage Ministry shall include, but not be limited to the
following:
• Promotion God's plan for marriage through teaching married couples what the Scriptures teach concerning Christian marriage;
• Helping individuals to come to a personal, saving knowledge of and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, "teaching them to observe all things" that Christ commanded;
• Betterment of marital and family communications;
• Encouragement of couples and families to work toward the ideal in relationships set forth in the Holy Scripture;
• Fostering of fellowship, witness, and deep interpersonal sharing in relationships as described in the New Testament;
• Providing tools to couples and families for improving their relationship with each other and with God in Christ Jesus;
• Gather into fellowship those who will respond and to nurture them.
