Greetings in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is in Him that we live, move, and have our very being.
I am excited that you have decided to take this journey of the Daniel fast with us. I hope and pray that this will be an opportunity for you to connect with God on another level, and that your prayer life will be strengthened during this time of fasting and praying. The book of Daniel, Chapter One describes for us the basis for the Daniel fast: as Daniel was taken into captivity and was instructed to eat the food from the king’s table, Daniel declared that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, and requested vegetables and water. At the end of the ten days they were stronger and healthier than all those who ate the meat from the king’s table.
As Daniel was strengthened in his time of fasting and praying, I pray that you are strengthened in this Lenten season. I pray that at Resurrection morning you will be healthier and stronger than you have ever been, because you have consecrated this time to the Lord. There are many different types of fasts, and there are many things that you may want to abstain from during this fasting period. But the most important element to this and any fast is that whatever you commit and covenant with the Lord to do during this fasting period, you will complete it.
This guide is designed for you to be able to participate on whatever level you are on so you can get the most out of this time with the Lord.
This year in the season of Lent I am asking the entire Greater Centennial family to join us on the Daniel Fast for 47 days March 1 - April 16, 2017.
As we journey together in this season of fasting find your strength and encouragement in the daily Scripture readings and devotions, and remember that at the end of this fasting season we will be stronger and more determined than ever to be all that God wants us to be.
